Media Tech Students Win Video Contest
Ryan Colegrove, class of 2013, was part of the team that won the “Just Another Day” Akron Film+Pixel’s Student Video Contest put on by the Akron Art Museum with their short “60 BPM”. The goal was to make a short film in two weeks that was under 5 minutes, include the line “I kept it all in my phone” and a stuffed animal plot. The short stars Media Tech class of 2014 student Maria Laskowski.
Rebecca lives her life at a constant tempo: 60 BPM. When she is forced to audition for a scholarship, she must overcome her inner-rhythm by playing a piece at a higher tempo.

Media Tech Instructor Achieves Adobe Certification
Media Technology Instructor C. Bernie Van Tilburg passed the certification tests and is now an Adobe Certified Associate in Video Communication using Adobe Premeire Pro CS5, Visual Communication with Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Rich Media Communication with Adobe Flash Professional.

C-Town Film Factory, a local film collaborative comprised of former classmates – Jonathan Koenig, Damon Smith, Benjamin Measor, Robert G. Putka, and Rob Bartley -premiered their darkly comedic short film, “MOUTHFUL” at the SXSW Film Festival, widely regarded by both the trades and filmmakers alike as being among the top 5-10 film festivals in the world. This film was shot in Lakewood and comprised of an entirely local crew of college-aged students. The only exception being the two lead actors – 2009 Sundance Alumni Conor Casey, and NYC native Eilis Cahill. With the official announcement of the SXSW schedule, the young men over at C-Town Film Factory have also launched a website devoted to the short film(http://www.mouthfulmovie.com/). Along with SXSW, “MOUTHFUL” has been invited to screen at the Academy-Award qualifying Florida Film Festival, as well as at the Vail Film Festival, the Boston Underground Film Festival(shout out and lineup – http://www.badlit.com/?p=21912), and will be making it’s Ohio premiere at the Athens International Film Festival(also Academy-Award qualifying).

Dave Kiss, Class of 2006 Outstanding Student, won Grand Prize in the Build Your West Coast Customs Dream Car Contest. This link is the video he submitted to win. The prize is a $50,000 makeover for his dad’s muscle car and he is going to LA to be on the show “Inside West Coast Customs” for the Discovery Channel.

Collin Breimeier (class of 2011) put together a team this year and their film “Yearly” won Best Use of Line, Best Costumes and Chris Ross won Best Male Actor. “Yearly” won 3 out of the 4 awards it was nominated for. The film was also 1 of 5 films chosen to screen at the Indie Gathering. Other Media Tech students on the team were Nate Janka and Jimmy Scherer, class of 2011, and Jarrod Evangelist, Marissa Roesch, and Bob Kappan, class of 2012.
Media Tech Alumnus Finishes Documentary “Brink”
Jason, Oustanding Student Class of 2008, chronicled the adventures of a group of BASE jumpers for this very polished production. Chris Mack, Class of 2007, did the sound design. You can watch the video on his website.

Brecksville, Ohio – Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) is pleased to announce that it was recently ranked #1 out of the 91 Career-Technical Planning Districts (CTPDs) in Ohio, according to the Ohio Career-Technical Education 2009-2010 Secondary Career-Technical Planning District (CTPD) Workforce Development Performance Reports. This is the career-technical education version of the state report cards, which all public school districts in Ohio receive.
