| High school students from eight districts come to Cuyahoga Valley Career Center to get hands on training on state of the art equipment to give them an advantage when going to college or entering the workplace directly after graduation. We use professional equipment like Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro Editors and JVC GY-HM100U and Panasonic DVX100A cameras. We take many field trips to places like WKYC-TV3 and Fox 8 as well as Jacobs Field and Quicken Loans Arena (CLICK HERE to read an article about our trip to the Q). We also have frequent guest speakers such as the General Manager of Fox Sports Net Ohio, local filmmakers, and pros from local production companies. Our students have done internships and job shadowing with The Greater Cleveland Film Commission, WKYC-TV3, WVIZ, Creative Technology, Classic Worldwide Productions, Cuyhaoga Valley National Park, Cuyahoga Valley Church, WTAM Radio, and WKNR Radio. | |||||
NIGHT CLASSES IN MULTIMEDIA OFFERED AT CVCC. Mr. Van Tilburg will be teaching Movie Making (with HD cameras, FrameForge storyboarding software, Celtx screenwriting software, and Final Cut Pro editing software), and Audio Studio Production(using Pro Tools). CLASS OF 2011 WRAPS PRODUCTION ON SHORT FILM "FROG KISSING." After two weeks of pre-production, three weeks of shooting and three weeks of editing, this almost 50 minute movie is done. The premeire was held at CVCC on June 7th to rave reviews. The entire cast and crew is made up of Media Tech students from the class of 2010. MEDIA TECH UPGRADES TO HIGH DEFINITION CAMERAS. We have purchased five JVC GY-HM100U cameras for the 2009-2010 school year. MEDIA TECHNOLOGY STUDENT IS A FINALIST IN THE 2009 NATIONAL FILM CHALLENGE. Jason Piszczor, outstanding senior class of 2008, was selected as one of the top 16 finalists out of 186 teams participating internationally. His film "My Birthday" won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, BEST USE OF CHARACTER, and BEST USE OF LINE. He has already won the Akron Independent Film Festival two years in a row. This year he won with "Thespian," a musical. Media Tech alumni Chris Mack, class of 2007, provided the music. Last year, Jason's team won with "Chopsticks" a "film noir." |
