Alumni Short to Premiere at Florida Film Festival

Bobby Putka’s, class of 2008, short “Mouthful”, will be premiering at the Florida Film Festival in April. This is pretty major, as the FFF is not only one of the biggest in the US, but its also Academy Award qualifying.  Several alumni worked on the project:  Produced by Jon Koenig and Ben Measor; Assistant Director Damon Smith; Assistant Camera by Spencer Tuckerman; Sound by Chris Mack; Rob Bartley was the UPM.

Media Tech Team Wins Awards at 48 Hr Film Competition

 Collin Breimeier (class of 2011) put together a team this year and their film “Yearly” won Best Use of Line, Best Costumes and Chris Ross won Best Male Actor. “Yearly” won 3 out of the 4 awards it was nominated for. The film was also 1 of 5 films chosen to screen at the Indie Gathering.  Other Media Tech students on the team were Nate Janka and Jimmy Scherer, class of 2011, and Jarrod Evangelist, Marissa Roesch, and Bob Kappan, class of 2012.

CVCC Ranked #1 Overall Among 91 Career-Technical Planning Districts in Ohio

Brecksville, Ohio – Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) is pleased to announce that it was recently ranked #1 out of the 91 Career-Technical Planning Districts (CTPDs) in Ohio, according to the Ohio Career-Technical Education 2009-2010 Secondary Career-Technical Planning District (CTPD) Workforce Development Performance Reports. Marty Kane, class of 2008, has won a Chicago/Midwest Emmy for Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence Off Camera: Scenic Design/Set Design/Art Direction and Graphics/Animation News and Non-News.  You can watch the motion graphics project at  http://vimeo.com/10218691.  The winners are listed HERE.  Marty is the first student in the history of Columbia College Chicago to win a professional Emmy as a student.
